Bio: Sue Frause has been a working freelance journalist and photographer since 1988. A voracious lover of the written word, her favorite childhood books were Eloise, Nancy and Plum, A Wrinkle in Time and the Nancy Drew series. Her writing career started early on as the editor of the Roosevelt Nosy News, a sporadic grade school publication cranked out on a mimeograph machine by aspiring sixth grade journalists. She grew up on a diet of two newspapers a day, The Seattle Post-Intelligencer and The Everett Herald.

It’s no surprise that Sue ended up in the newspaper world. For 15 years, she wrote an award-winning column for The South Whidbey Record, for which she received top honors from the Washington Press Association and the National Newspaper Association. Today, she is a freelance travel writer and photographer whose work is published in numerous newspapers and magazines in the United States and Canada. Sue has been a weekly on-air correspondent for KSER 90.7 FM community radio in Everett, Washington since 1992. When she’s on the road, she calls in from locales around the world.

Sue is a member of SATW (Society of American Travel Writers) and served as a media board member on the Washington News Council from 1999-2004. She is on the board of the South Whidbey Community School and is a charter member of the Ester Moe Lodge of the Daughters of Norway. She frequently appears as an emcee or auctioneer at community charity events and also gives travel presentations.

Sue and her husband Bob live on Whidbey Island in Puget Sound where they tend to their chickens, turkeys, garden and their very own field of dreams. When not meeting deadlines, Sue enjoys travel, theater, movies, jazz, fine food and libations, heavenly spas and visiting son Max in New York City.
