Go for the Green :: The Fairmont Royal York, Toronto

View from CN Tower - Toronto

I like cities in the summer.

Whether it’s strolling through New York’s Central Park or taking a passenger ferry in Vancouver’s False Creek, it’s liberating to be freed of winter wardrobes and worries.

If you’re headed to Toronto, the Fairmont Royal York’s Green Getaway package is a fun, eco-friendly vacation option.

    It’s also a family-friendly getaway.

    Here’s what’s inside:

    • Accommodation in a deluxe room
    • Picnic lunch on nearby Toronto Islands
    • Toronto Island Ferry tickets
    • Toronto Transit Commission pass (weekends only)
    • Tour Green Toronto map

The Green Getaway package starts at $259 CAD (approximately $235 USD) for two adults and up to two children. Call 800-441-1414 for reservations or book online. Available until Sept. 2, 2007.

The picnic lunch (packed in a reusable Fairmont Royal York tote bag) includes a choice of sandwiches: spiced rotisserie free range chicken with Pommery mustard and balsamic mayonnaise or a ginger salmon and coriander baguette, with yogurt-lemon dressing. The meal is accompanied by Royal York coleslaw, herbed Ontario potatoes salad and York’s Deli Caesar salad.

Children may select from either a peanut butter and jam sandwich or roast chicken and cranberry sandwich, accompanied by carrot and celery sticks, fresh fruit, granola bars, pretzels and savoury pita chips. Beverages include choice of sodas, water and juice boxes. All picnic packaging is either reusable or recyclable

Located in the heart of downtown Toronto, The Fairmont Royal York is a short walk to the CN Tower. The hotel is connected by the underground PATH to the TTC (Toronto Transit System) and Union Station, where VIA Rail arrives and departs daily. The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) is only a few subway stops away and also within walking and/or subway distance are the business and theatre districts, as well as the city’s best shopping and dining. Nearby attractions include the Rogers Centre, Hockey Hall of Fame, Chinatown, St. Lawrence Market, Harbourfront and the Air Canada Centre.
