Gelston House Re-Opens Just In Time For Spring :: Connecticut
The historic Gelston House in East Haddam, Connecticut has been the site of a restaurant and tavern since 1736. It was recently renovated and reopened by Iso Dedusaj, former manager of Manhattan’s celebrated Café Un Deux Trois, along with Tony and Benny Deduasj.
The family owned restaurant is described as a “Fine American Bistro,” and specializes in steak, fresh seafood and pasta. The elegant main dining room has views of the Connecticut River and there is also outdoor dining. In addition to the full-service fine dining menu, there is a weekend brunch menu and tavern menu. The Gelston House also offers a special prix fixe menu for theatre-goers at the nearby Goodspeed Opera House. There is also a late-night menu for post-show dining. The remodeled interior includes an intimate lounge area, a grand piano and live music.
Though previously operated as a restaurant and inn, the guest rooms at The Gelston House will reopen at a later date.
Gelston House is located in the same community as Goodspeed Musicals, formed in 1959 to restore the 19th century Goodspeed Opera House. It has achieved international acclaim as the home of musical theatre and is the recipient of two special Tony Awards.
