The historic Alexis Hotel in Seattle is undergoing an extreme makeover this spring and summer.
As one of Seattle’s premier boutique hotels for more than two decades, the Alexis is undergoing an extensive $8.5 million renovation that includes updating and enhancing the style, service and amenities offered at this artistic property. Managed by San Francisco-based Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, this is the hotel’s first major remodel since 1992. The transformation will take place in phases to ensure uninterrupted guest service. It’s slated for completion in July 2007.
Dedicated to the Art of Living, the Alexis Hotel has been the destination for celebrities and dignitaries visiting the Emerald City. The hotel’s historic 1901 exterior will be kept intact, while the lobby, guest rooms and luxury suites will be redesigned by Seattle’s Dawson Design Associates. They will also redesign the hotels signature Gallery Art Walk.
The redesign creates 12 new rooms, bringing the total to 121 guest rooms including seven specialty suites. The Alexis will feature nine unique room types, ranging from private living rooms and kitchenettes to media rooms with overstuffed sofas and suites with wood-burning fireplaces and jetted tubs.
The guest room color palate will consist of calming tones accented by vibrant red and royal blue decor elements. All rooms will feature 300-thread count Frette linen sheets, Pacific Coast Feather down bedding, 32-inch LCD HDTV flat screen with on-demand movies, honor bars, cordless phones and luxury bath amenities.
Elegant treatments such as rococo mirrors, ornate buffets and chaise lounges will be juxtaposed with modern, minimalist furnishings like a Kielhauer desk chair and stainless steel four-poster bed. The Alexis will retain its AAA Four-Diamond amenities and specialty services. On site is the hotel’s Etherea Salon.Spa, a fitness facility and private steam room, and the Library Bistro and The Bookstore Bar & Cafe.
