Alexis Hotel : $8.5 million rehab makes this historic Seattle boutique hotel glow, glow, glow!

They put the Alexis Hotel into rehab: Yes, Yes, Yes!

That’s my reaction after doing before and after stays at Seattle’s historic Alexis Hotel.

The $8.5 million renovation is now complete and it’s sweet.

Photos of my before and after stays say it all. The new, improved suite is in the first photo and the tired, older room is next.

This is the hotel’s first major remodel since 1992.

Dedicated to the Art of Living, Seattle’s Dawson Design Associates redesigned the 1901 hotel’s interior spaces: lobby, guest rooms, luxury suites and its signature Gallery Art Walk.

The gallery-inspired design features a rich color palate highlighted by original artwork and ambient lighting. The redesign created a dozen new rooms, bringing the total to 121 guest rooms including seven specialty suites.

Art of Doing Nothing: Overnight for two, two in-room movie credits, hot buttered popcorn and ice cream, $50 food and beverage credit and the book The Art of Doing Nothing by Veronique Vienne and Erica Lennard. Rates begin at $339.

Art of Romance: Overnight for two, chilled Champagne or sparkling cider, chocolates, Aveda bath and body goodies, in-room continental breakfast. Rates begin at $290.

Babymoon Package: Overnight for two, spa treatments at on-site Etherea Salon.Spa, special “cravings menu,” gift card from Babies R’ Us, in-room movie. Rates begin at $575.

Canine guests are welcome at the Alexis. Each of the hotel’s guest rooms is pet friendly and guest dogs receive a designer doggie bed, bowl filled with distilled water and complimentary pet treats. There’s even a “Doggie In-Room Dining Service Menu,” in addition to private sessions with a groomer.

Now through January 31, 2008 all three of the Kimpton Seattle properties ( The Hotel Monaco, Hotel Vintage Park and the Alexis Hotel) are offering the “Take the Elevator Home” rate, which is 20 percent off the Best Available Rate. Rooms start at $139 at The Monaco, $115 at Hotel Vintage Park and $140 at the Alexis (taxes not included). For reservations, call the VIP Reservation Line and ask for the “Take the Elevator Home” rate at 206.516.5097.
