Wine lovers will soon be cracking open bottles of the 2008 Beaujolais. But in Texas, they’ll be doing one better. Dallas will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the country’s biggest Beaujolais Wine Festival at the World Trade Center on Friday, Nov. 21.

With the theme of France Meets Texas : Celebrate the Harvest, the 2008 festival is organized by the French-American Chamber of Commerce of Dallas/Fort Worth and is expected to draw more than 2,000 people. Festival goers will not only taste wines from the Beaujolais region, but there will also be Texas vintages to savor.

Celebrities include Miss Texas 2008 and Yvan Jayne, a French citizen and bareback-riding-winner of the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. Other highlights include a fashion show, blind wine tasting, silent auction, jugglers, mimes and more.

Some of the top restos and gourmet food providers in the Metroplex will be represented: Chic from Barcelona, Conti Gourmet Coffee, Creperie du Chateau, Eddie Deen, Empire Bakery, Les Fromageries Papillon, Hotel St. Germain, Alo by La Duni, Lavendou Bistro Provençal, Le Cordon Bleu Institute of Culinary Arts, Maguire’s, Mozzarella Company, Olea Mediterranean Bistro, Paciugo Gelato, Salum Restaurant, Terilli’s Restaurant, The Londoner, Tony’s Wine Warehouse and more.

The Dallas festival is the largest Beaujolais celebration in the country. Tickets are $55 per person; parties of 4 or more are $50 each.
