Pause at La Pause Bed and Breakfast :: Vancouver Island

La Pause B&B - Room

Autumn is the perfect time to visit the islands of British Columbia. The crowds are gone and there’s more of a relaxed feeling in the air.

Victoria is on most travelers’ Vancouver Island itineraries, but it’s fun to branch out and explore other regions. One of my favorites is the Comox Valley, a 90-minute drive up island from Victoria. At last, Courtenay boasts a beautiful place to stay.

Lucille Doucet and David Innes opened La Pause Bed and Breakfast in June of this year. Located just five minutes from downtown Courtenay, it features three lovely rooms: The Provence Room, where I stayed; The Santa Fe Room; and The West Coast Room. Each has a private bath, soft robes and sandals and original photography by David. There’s also complimentary WiFi.

Outdoors on the well manicured grounds are a lovely in-ground swimming pool and hot tub, along with an infrared sauna.

Rates, which begin at $95, include a health-wise gourmet breakfast and complimentary tea and coffee in the guest lounge.

This fall, La Pause is offering a special to celebrate their opening: For two-night stays, the second night is half-price. And for three night stays, the third night is free.

Both West Jet and Air Canada offer direct flights to the Comox Valley Airport, which is about 20 minutes from La Pause.
