It’s simply called the Town & Country Gourmet Retreat.
Located in the heart of Vancouver, the Wedgewood Hotel & Spa will treat foodies to Executive Chef Lee Parsons’ Menu Gourmand dinner with paired wines. Dine in the lovely Bacchus Restaurant and Piano Lounge and then retreat to your deluxe executive room with king bed, double soaker tub, walk-in show and balcony. A wholesome continental breakfast is included the next morning.
Make sure you take time for a spa treatment while at the Wedgewood — this jewel box of a spa is one of the city’s gems.
Salt Spring is the largest of the Gulf Islands, known for its organic foods and laidback lifestyle. It’s accessible from Vancouver by BC Ferries or float plane. Both provide a scenic journey to this bucolic island.
Located within walking distance of Ganges and overlooking the harbour, you’ll enjoy two nights in a bed-sitting room, complete with fireplace and ensuite bathroom. A continental wake-up hamper starts your day and then take your picnic lunch to go hiking, biking or motoring around the island.
Make sure you book a late afternoon spa appointment, located just steps away in one of the hotel’s charming out buildings. That evening, Chef Marcel Kauer will create a four-course chef’s dinner for two, culled from the seasonal harvest from his lush kitchen garden.
The Town & Country Gourmet Retreat can start either in Vancouver or on Salt Spring Island — your choice. Rates for the three-night package are $854 CAD per person (March 14-May 31 and Oct. 1 – Nov. 9, 2008) and $969 CAD per person in the summer (June 1-Sept. 30, 2008).
