A Yummy Cookbook from Vancouver Island’s Fairholme Manor Inn

Breakfasts & Brunches

Sylvia Main, owner of Victoria, BC’s historic Fairholme Manor Inn, has created a beautiful cookbook featuring her very best breakfast and brunch recipes.

The elegantly designed book, Fabulous Fairholme: Breakfasts & Brunches, is highlighted by dozens of photographs of the inn’s breakfast and brunch offerings, along with the inn and its lush gardens.

The cookbook was a direct result of Fairholme’s guests wanting to take the inn home with them.

“I couldn’t keep up with the requests for recipes,? said Main.

A disclaimer: I’m the cookbook’s editor. Here’s the foreword I wrote for the book:

As a travel writer, I sleep around a lot. Whether it’s a small bed and breakfast, an urban boutique hotel or a four-star resort — I’ve stayed in some wonderful hostelries around the world. Fairholme Manor is one of my favorites.

Part of the magic of Fairholme is that it fits any occasion. Whether it’s a solo retreat, a girls’ getaway or a stolen weekend with my husband — the inn always feels right, no matter what. The ingredients that make it all so delightful are carefully crafted by Sylvia. From her cheery welcome at the front door to her animated conversation while serving one of the inn’s legendary breakfasts, her zest for life is contagious.

Fabulous Fairholme is more than a cookbook — it’s a lifestyle book. Inside are recipes and photographs that capture the essence of Sylvia’s lovely inn. It’s a book to sit down with over a cup of tea. It’s a book to share with a friend.

Pretty fabulous indeed.

Fabulous Fairholme: Breakfasts & Brunches is a reflection of the beautiful Inn Sylvia and her staff have created. The 142-page hardcover book features glossy paper stock, along with high quality photographs and a text that is both entertaining and easy to read. Recipes include such enticing items as Baked Raspberry French Toast, Breakfast Cheese Souffle, Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, Fairholme Granola and many more.

The inn is one of Vancouver Island’s jewels. Situated in the lush Rockland area of Victoria, British Columbia, the Italianate-syle home was built in 1885. Fairholme Manor is located adjacent to the gardens of Government House, the official residence of the Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia, the Queen’s representative. Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Phillip, Duke of Edinburgh paid a visit to Government House in 2002.

The cookbook is available in select book stores and shops across Canada, and also online at Fairholme Manor’s website. It retails for $29.95 CAD plus tax and shipping.
