And now Amtrak has introduced “luxurious” rail rides with The GrandLuxe Limited.

Formerly known as the American Orient Express, it’s a premier, separate, seven-car train attached to regularly scheduled Amtrak trains. It comes complete with private dining, lounge and sleeping cars.

GrandLuxe Limited is available on select Amtrak routes. They include the California Zephyr, from Chicago to the San Francisco Bay Area or reverse; the Southwest Chief, from Chicago to Los Angeles or reverse; and the Silver Meteor, from Washington, D.C. to Miami or reverse.

There are more than 90 departures available.

During the holiday season from November to January, GrandLuxe Journeys begin at $789 per person for two days/one night or $1,599 per person for three days/two nights.

If you’re an Amtrak Guest Rewards member, you’ll receive a $100 per person credit toward the purchase of alcoholic beverages when booking a GrandLuxe Limited Rail Journey. This includes wine and champagne selections from Amtrak’s reserve list. Note that the credit is in addition to the wine with dinner that’s included with the GrandLuxe fare.

Just provide your Amtrak Guest Rewards member number when making reservations. Not a member? Sign up on Amtrak’s website.

To book your trip, visit GrandluxeRail.com or call 800.320.4206.

All aboard!
