Namibia on my mind.

While others are working on their New Year’s Resolutions, I’m busy writing my wish-list of places I’d like to explore. Topping my list this year is Namibia (first because I like saying it-don’t try if you’ve been drinking-but mostly because everyone who’s ever been lucky enough to travel there, absolutely RAVES about the country’s incredible wildlife, spectacular coastlines and the awe-inspiring vastness of the Namib Desert.

The group I’d like to go with is Baobab Expeditions, a company that was hand-picked by the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund for partnership due to Baobab’s unique African expeditions and its conviction to support both wildlife conservation and community organizations. Baobab’s discovery expeditions are known for providing their guests with the Big 4: relaxation, discovery, luxury and adventure.

For example, on one of their Namibia tours they stop in at the Cheetah Conservation preserve, spend time at Etosha National Park- the third largest wildlife sanctuary in the world and haven to 93 mammal species and 340 bird species, raft down the wild Cunene River, hang with the remote Himba tribe whose only neighbors are the herds of Namibia’s desert-dwelling elephants, explore the seaside town of Swakopmund, which offers tons of adventure activities including quadbiking, sandboarding, sky diving, scenic flights and fishing excursions, and that’s just the tip of the sand dune.

Their website offers a plethora of itineraries for “exploration without frontiers” that will wet the appetite of even the armchair traveler.
