May Day for Song?: Delta Changing Its Tune

They say it’s not over ’til the fat lady sings. But for discount carrier Song Airways, their tune will change next May when parent company Delta Air Lines will tap the best features of its low-cost, highly acclaimed Song. The goal is to launch a new, unique long-haul domestic Song service for Delta customers by Fall 2006.

More than 100 airplanes, including Song’s 48 Boeing 757-200 aircraft, will be remodeled to add 26 first-class seats per plane, will expand state-of-the-art digital in-flight entertainment at every leather seat, and will help the carrier appeal to fliers as a hip airline.
