Green Apple :: The MacBook Air
Yesterday at San Francisco’s Macworld Expo, Apple CEO Steve Jobs introduced the MacBook Air –– “the world’s thinnest notebook computer” — which is 0.16-inch at its slimmest point. “We’re talking thin here,” he said.
It’s also probably the world’s lightest, tipping the scales at a mere three pounds. It features a 13.3-inch screen an 80-GB hard drive, 1.6-GHz or 1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, a built-in camera, wireless networking, five hours of battery life, and no optical drive. The biggest thing about it is its price tag of $1,799.
But this is also a green computer because its case is aluminum. That’s highly desirable as a recyclable. Its screen is mercury-free, with no arsenic in the glass surface. The packaging also has 50% less volume than other MacBooks. Read more about the MacBook Air.
