Golf Year Round At Bear Mountain, One of Canada’s Beautiful Pacific Coast Resorts

“The mountains are calling and I must go.” — John Muir (1838 – 1914)

It is easy to image that John Muir was on Bear Mountain, Victoria, B.C. in 1864, when he spoke those words. One visit to Westin Bear Mountain Golf Resort & Spa and you too will heed the call to return as well.

Encompassing 1,100 acres of gorgeous mountainside land, this unique resort is the direct result of a tree dispute between former NHL player Len Barrie and his previous neighbour, another golf course, in Victoria. Though his plans were originally modest, Bear Mountain Resort is now a premier destination. Located a short distance from Victoria, the resort offers 156 rooms warmly decorated with wood trim and stone accents. Casual to fine dining is available in the 4 on-site restaurants.

Amenities include a full service spa offering a variety of treatments that will pamper and rejuvenate you from the top of your head to the tip of your toes. Pilates, aerobics and yoga classes are offered on site. There are also running, biking and hiking trails. A swimming pool, volleyball court, and fitness center are available for guest use. Optional valet parking, concierge service and 24 hour room service stand ready to provide excellent customer service.

The piece de resistance is the two distinct 18 hole courses both designed by Team Nicklaus, father, and professional golfer Jack and son Steve. Westin Bear Mountain Golf Resort and Spa is the only resort in Canada with 36 holes designed by the Nicklaus. The Mountain course is reported to have 18 signature holes, par-71, and traverses 7200 yards. There is a bonus 19th hole, known as the betting hole, with stunning views in all directions. The Valley course, par-70, has 6807 yards and plays at a lower elevation than the Mountain course but also has bragging rights for magnificent views.

As of this writing there are still 7 condos available to discriminating buyers who wish to own a slice of this masterpiece.
