Downtown Is Getting More Uptown :: Prada, San Francisco

Prada San Francisco If you’ve never visited a Prada Store, don’t dare call yourself a luxury shopper. We toured their store on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills last year. It’s part modern art museum, part boutique, and all Italian style. Now, Prada has opened its luxury retail store in a stylish building honored by the American Institute of Architects in San Francisco’s Union Square at 201 Post near Grant Avenue. It was formerly the Brooks Brothers site.

At over 5,600 square feet, this is one of four American flagship sites and is an Italian mecca to upscale merchandise. Prada’s previous SF store, which was a women-only boutique a block away on Geary Street, is now closed and has been merged into this larger venue. In the continual upscaling of downtown shopping, Prada joins the recent openings of Barneys New York and De Beers, while Tory Burch will open nearby on Maiden Lane in September. Gucci is also slated to move from Geary Street to Maiden Lane in November.

Bring your Gold cards to Prada. Men’s suits range from $2,000 up to $30,000 for custom-made cashmere. You can also choose from crocodile leather: shoes from $450 to $1,500 and luggage from $15,000 to $20,000 — or what you could pay for the front seat of a Lamborghini.

Well, even though I probably cannot afford any of these items I will definitely check that out!
    Someday who knows…:-)

Wow! I may just stand outside and stare longingly at the displays… but I am always tempted to get that ONE pair of Carrie Bradshaw-esque shoes.
