Explore these neighborhood activities:
Lincoln Square – The German cultural organization DANK is hosting a Chrismas Party with music by the Polkaholics, prizes for the best polkawear and exotic German shots and snapps.
Andersonville – Glug the glogg at the Swedish American Museum Center’s St. Lucia Day celebration on December 21 with Swedish songs, Lucia buns and a candlelight procession.
South Shore – Enjoy cultural workshops, a gift-making pavillion, a marketplace with dozens of vendors, and more at the African-American celebration of Kwanzaa from December 26 to January 1, 2006.
Wicker Park – Oy vey, you can light my fire with a Hanukkah candle at the Feast of Lights, a disco ball and laser light show. There’s a Polish feast here, too.
Pilsen – The Chicago Arts District opens its art galleries and studios this month, so you can shop for a painting or hand-made journal.
