The five-star palatial, Grand Hotel Flora Rome Marriott is a momentous, 19th-century hotel with extremely luxurious rooms and suites, positioned at the top of Via Veneto next to Villa Borghese Park. The extravagant hotel was one of the splendid stopovers in the heyday of ‘La Dolce Vita’ and has now been fully reinstated, offering roomy, delightfully furnished bedrooms overlooking the Villa Borghese gardens. The hotel attracts both business and leisure travelers.
Of all the rooms and suites, no two are similar; each is unique in its own way. They are all attractively furnished with outstanding antique tables, china, and bronzes, paintings and prints, and inflated with rare and precious silk, brocade, and velvet to produce a warm and cozy atmosphere. The Presidential Suites are all placed on the hotel’s upper floors to enjoy a marvelous view over Via Veneto, Villa Borghese and Porta Pinciana.
The seventh-floor roof garden restaurant is seventh heaven with one of the greatest views over Rome. There is also the ground-floor Cabiria Restaurant. Every day for lunch and dinner, guests can relish traditional Neapolitan cuisine creatively interpreted by the chef Luigi Sorrentino using Italian flair.
Love the Borghese area, but wouldn’t want to stay there as it’s too far to walk to most of Rome’s historical sights. And the Via Veneto is so 60s.
I love the Portrait Suites (by Ferragamo) and Intercontinental’s de la Ville, both near the Piazza di Spagna.
