Sexy Pawns & Classy Queens: World Chess Beauty Contest
According to The New York Times, a Web site for the World Chess Beauty Contest, built by chessmaster Vladidslav Tkachiev and his brother, aims to boost the image of Chess by adding some glamour, a few provocative photos and an opportunity for any female chess lover to enter.
Tkachiev’s site features Chess superstars such as the Russians Alexandra Kosteniuk (pictured), Maria Manakova, Aussie Vanessa Reid, and hundreds of others. Most are from Russia and Eastern Europe.
The contest has been so popular online that its deadline has now been prolonged to January 5, 2006. So vote early and vote often.
