Airlines Flying In Supplies & Flying Out Refugees

Despite their collective financial woes, a number of U.S. airlines are flying in supplies and flying out refugees from the hurricane-ravaged areas of Louisiana. The goodwill effort included about four relief flights per hour into Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport starting yesterday by as many as a dozen passenger carriers, including Delta and United Airlines. Bless you all for helping those who need it most!

A Delta flight delivered supplies at the airport and returned with 140 refugees. UAL flew 12 tons of food and water plus 30 medical technicians from Chicago and returned to O’Hare with 104 evacuees. In all, the airlines’ joint efforts could evacuate 30,000 out of the New Orleans area to Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX.
