Kirkland Winery in a Sorry State

There is some bad news from the world of wineries. The Kirkland Ranch Winery has sadly been subjected to foreclosure. According to the reports of Wines & Vines, we have learned that the foreclosure proceedings on the Kirkland Winery have begun. It was an auction in December, which was unsuccessful in attracting any bidder to pay $22 million, which was the minimum bid. The winery has let most employees go but remains open with management filling in. After that, foreclosure followed.

The winery had surely come a long way since it began. At Kirkland, the producer of Syrah, Pinot Grigio, Sangiovese, and other wines had created a good reputation. A few years ago, Kirkland Winery filed Chapter 11 so that you can prevent a foreclosure auction. In 2007, it came out from bankruptcy protection

The Kirkland family established the winery sprawling over 57,000 square-feet of area, about ten years ago. The winery can process up to 200,000 gallons of wine every year.
