When Dan Brown wrote “The Da Vinci Code,” he never envisioned it would be a best seller for two years. Nor did he then think it would become part of a popular 2 1/2-hour Parisienne walking tour. But it did and it has. So here’s the 411. The tours begin daily (except Tuesdays when the Louvre is closed) at 10am. Guests are escorted through a “secret doorway” into the Louvre. Cost is $33 US. It’s recommended you reserve your space 48 hours in advance.
Each tour begins at the column in the middle of Place Vendome (at the closest Metro station: Tuileries, Line 1) and is escorted by an English speaking guide. Tours include Robert Langdon’s Ritz Hotel, walking in his footsteps through this world-class art museum (and former palace), the Grand Gallery with the Mona Lisa and Madonna of the Rocks, a nice stroll through the Latin Quarter to St. Germain des Pres to St. Sulpice, site of the Rose Line, and to the classy Right Bank. Tour fee includes an all-day pass to the Louvre.
