Airline food on most domestic flights is awful at best. You can bring a sandwich from home. Buy something at the airport. Or check out SkyMeals, currently available to anyone living in the L.A. metro area, or those who are traveling to, from, or through the city.

SkyMeals’ aim is to deliver fresh, gourmet, great-tasting, chef-prepared food to travelers — especifically air travelers– who have very few options for finding decent meals on airplanes and in airports, let alone on the road, or even the train.

Customers simply call them or go to their Web site and order their meals, and they will meet you wherever you need them to, including curbside at any of L.A.’s airports. The dishes range from Brown Sugar-Glazed Alaskan Salmon with Marinated Primavera Salad and Vegetable Orzo on Red Oak Leaf Lettuce to Lettuce-Wrapped Peking Duck with Crispy Wontons and Scallions on a Bed of Shredded Napa Cabbage with Sweet Garlic Sauce, and more. Sounds pretty tasty, doesn’t it?

The cost of all menu items listed on the Web site includes the delivery fee. Sales tax is added at checkout. Appetizers average $10; entrées & sandwiches with two side dishes $25; Sky Kids meals $8; Sky Light items $20; and desserts are $4. Additional items are available, including brunch menus and a special Charcuterie sampler, among others.
