SF Chefs. Food. Wine. To Attract Thousands, Aug. 6-9

The City’s most renowned chefs –– and even many that don’t have their names on the restaurant’s front door –– will congregate at the main tasting tent in Union Square from August 6th through the 9th. There, in the heart of the most upscale shops and steps from the Powell Street Cable Car, they’ll join wine makers and distillers to offer an exploration of taste featuring local products like S.F.’s famous Dungeness Crab, sushi, seafood fresh from the Pacific Coast, Asian Fusion cuisine, artisan breads, pizza, tapas, and many other delicacies.

A Cause With A Cause.
This event supports four local charities:
1) Feeding America is a major sponsor of the San Francisco Food Bank, which provides food to needy families in the community.
2) Meals on Wheels provides food and meal delivery especially to seniors and others with mobility issues.
3) The Golden Gate Restaurant Association Scholarship Foundation provides funding for culinary and hospitality students based upon economic need.
4) Project Open Handprovides Meals with Love to people living with HIV/Aids in San Francisco. All four charities will receive funding from the weekend’s activities.
Plus, they ask you to join them in achieving a sustainable, zero waste event with no landfill. All paper products will be recycled. All disposable silverware and glassware are made from corn resin and will be composted after use. And all of this is good for all of us. They encourage attendees to walk from morning seminars in surrounding Union Square hotels to the Grand Tasting Tent and enjoy the urban experience.
Dominic Phillips Event Marketing is working with Andrew Freeman & Co. & the Golden Gate Restaurant Association to produce this four-day food and wine festival. My advice? Buy your tickets now — before they’re all gobbled up.
