You may have seen many vintage cars in your life but have you seen as many vintage planes? I guess not. The latest news is that Bonhams in London will be auctioning away a vintage plane. The auction of this collectible is planned to be conducted on April 20 this year. If you are fond of vintage planes then you will surely love this news.
The collectible is a two-seater, Vickers-Supermarine Spitfire. This plane is quite airworthy and it has been availed from a private source. However, the auction of the plane will take place in Hendon, near London at the famous Royal Air Force Museum.
The estimated value of the aircraft is £1.5 million. This Spitfire has been properly restored and this significant Warbird is ready to take off.
It was sent to the No 33 Maintenance Unit of Royal Air Force at Lyneham in Wiltshire. Later in 1948 it was sold to the South African Air Force. Finally, someone rediscovered the plane in a Cape Town scrap.
