Touch the Sky in Aspen :: Colorado
Don’t ski but want to see what Aspen is all about? Take advantage of the Touch the Sky Packageat the hip Sky Hotel before the rates rise and the town fills with board-toting tourists.
The sleek, slope-side hotel is offering deluxe accommodations for two and complimentary valet parking for $149 through Nov. 21 – less than half the special rates offered during ski season. Snow and temperatures are already falling in the Colorado high country, so it’s a great time to snuggle up around a fire or walk around in sweaters to enjoy Aspen when it’s quiet. And at more than 8,000 feet above sea level, you’ll feel like you really can touch the sky. (Editor’s Note: In fact, it has been snowing already in October and may threaten the World Series this coming weekend!)
The Sky, a Kimpton hotel, is great fun at any time of year.
Its sleek style and lobby décor are most often described as something out of “Alice in Wonderland? with oversized log posts, black walls and enormously tall white leather chairs. The smallish rooms (think fine old Parisian hotel rooms) are equally contemporary with tangerine walls, white headboards and black accents. Frette linens, l’Occitaine bath products, down comforters, plush robes and humidifiers are among the standard amenities.
While the hotel is just a block from the stellar dining and drinking of Aspen’s nightlife, it holds its own with a complimentary “Altitude Adjustment? wine reception each evening and the super-cool 39 Degrees Lounge.
And don’t leave home without your doggie! Pets are welcome at the 90-room Sky and even provided with a check-in treat as well as food and water bowls to be used during their stay.
