Bio: Janet Day’s journalism career has covered more than 25 years and stories of all variety, culminating with the Sept. 11, 2001 attack on the World Trade Center in New York.
A native of the East Coast, Janet is a fan of seafood and sailing, but as a transplant to Colorado, she is equally at home with venison and Vail.
She worked as a news reporter in Tennessee and Colorado before becoming an editor at the Denver Post, where she was a member of the 2000 Pulitzer Prize-winning team that covered the Columbine High School shootings. The next year, she moved from Denver back east to join Bloomberg News Service in midtown Manhattan. Seven months later, the city came crashing down around her and Janet managed much of Bloomberg’s coverage of the terrorist attack.
In 2003, decidedly done with disasters, Janet packed up her geriatric Labrador retriever and returned to Colorado to set up her own writing, editing and marketing consulting business, Day Dream Communications.
Janet got the travel bug young, thanks to parents who spent summers at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, drove the kids to Florida and allowed them to travel independently with friends, organized groups or alone. She has traveled throughout the US and South America, across Europe and in Africa. She prefers challenging trips that begin with activities such as hiking, white-water rafting and developing-world cultural adventures, then end in luxury in boutique hotels, exceptional restaurants and indulgent spas.
When not traveling or writing about traveling, Janet can be found on her snowboard at nearby Winter Park Resort, hiking around the Rockies with her dogs or pursuing her equally strong passion for textile arts.
