Many states across the US now have water parks so you can cool off during hot summer days. But one water park in northwest Michigan, a four-hour drive from Detroit, now has something new for winter.
It’s called Avalanche Bay Indoor Waterpark at Boyne Mountain–– and it’s the first American park at the base of a ski resort. Connected to the new Mountain Grand Lodge and Spa luxury hotel, this is a big, wet, fully enclosed park is themed as a Swiss-Austrian village.
Inside, you’ll be transported to a winter wonderland at a comfortable 84 degrees to enjoy slides, rides, a kid’s pools, a climbing wall, a lazy river, even a surf simulator.
But innovation is nothing new to Boyne Mountain: it created the world’s first quad, the first high-speed lift in the state, plus the US’s first high-speed six-pack.
