Tall Texan: DFW International Terminal D

When the new, 2-million square foot DFW International Terminal D opened last week in Northern Texas, so did 49 restaurants, retail and service shops. In fact, the new terminal, the most advanced built in the US since 9/11, will offer international passengers flights to a record 38 global destinations, plus an unparalleled list of options for shopping and dining, including franchises for casual dining cafes, an Irish pub, two Texas BBQ restaurants, a sports bar, and other specialty coffee and dining outlets.

Designed to accommodate the new Airbus A380s, the 28-gate terminal includes an 8,100-space parking garage, an extensive art collection, dozens of shops, live performance spaces, and a 298-room Grand Hyatt Hotel.

Approved retailers include Fossil, Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, Bachendorf’s Fine Jewelry, Landau & Bocelli Fashion Accessories, T.G.I. Friday’s, Bennigan’s, Jazzman’s Cafe, Simply Books and Starbucks Coffee.

“The opening of International Terminal D places DFW on the short list of the world’s top airports, in terms of its security, technology, architecture, engineering, design, construction and art,” said Jeff Fegan, Chief Executive Officer of DFW International Airport. “We’ve come a long way to get to this momentous day. Now… it begins serving our Airport and passengers with new elegance and efficiency and gives us a new front door to the world.”
