Ski, Swim & Spa: Squaw Valley USA, CA

I’ve skied at Squaw Valley USA, about 200 miles east of San Francisco for many winters. I’ve swum in the chilly, snow-fed waters of Lake Tahoe in the summers. Now, you can do both activities on the same day without leaving the top of the mountain, because this year-round resort opened its High Camp Swimming Lagoon and Spa yesterday.

Why is it called High Camp? For starters, the elevation is 8,200 feet. Second, it’s at the top of this world-famous ski area’s 2,000 vertical foot tram. Third, it’s the gateway to most of Squaw Valley’s beginner skiing and snowboarding area for day and night winter sports, ice skating and ice skating.

The huge heated swimming pool features:
• Two lap lanes;
• Fountains;
