Francofiles, Unite: Christophe Restaurant Francais, Sausalito

Since 1978, four-course Early Bird Dinners (5-6pm) for just $15.95 and four-course Prix Fixe meals for only $23.00 have helped Christophe Restaurant Francais carve out a nice niche for itself as a country bistro amid a landscape of Italian, Japanese, Thai, Mexican and other ethnic restaurants.

I dined here often 15 years ago when I lived in this scenic coastal town of Sausalito, just five minutes north of SF and the Golden Gate Bridge. Now, I only live 20 minutes away. So I enjoyed a great delayed Mother’s Day dinner last night with three generations of women –– my mother, the mother of my daughter (my wife) and the future mother of my grandkids (my daughter).

It still offers flavorful food with wonderful sauces, a reasonably priced wine list, a personable service, an outstanding value, and a very French atmosphere, all under the able hands of charming chef/owner Pierre Smets.
