Overnight In Venice? Here Are The 3 Things You Must See

1. St. Mark’s Basilica
If you ever get the opportunity to visit Venice, you must see the St. Mark’s Basilica. This is one of the most beautiful churches in the world. It has big onion domes, multi-colored marble pillars and floor to ceiling mosaics inside. It is free to tour the main part of the Basilica, and you can book an entry time online so you do not have to spend hours in line. The Basilica is also home to three museums inside that display various artifacts from Christian and Italian history. If you are fascinated by churches, architecture or just want to admire sheer beauty, then this is definitely the place to visit.
2. Doge’s Palace
Also not to be missed is Doge’s Palace, conveniently located right next to the Basilica. This has a rather hefty admission fee, but it is completely worth the money. There is a majestic bridge outside that leads you into the palace, called the Bridge of Sighs. Inside, the palace is truly a work of art, and seeing it is an experience you will not want to miss out on.

3. Torcello
If you are tired of doing typical touristy things and just want a breather from everything, then take a boat out and go to one of the lagoon’s islands – Torcello. It takes only an hour to get there from Venice, but it is definitely worth the trip. It has a natural beauty that just cannot be matched. There are fields where you can hike, and spots where you can just relax or have a picnic for the whole day. While most of this area is a natural reserve, there are a few homes around and there is even a small hotel. Another attraction in Torcello is the small 7th century church that sits amongst the fields. If you enjoyed the Basilica, you will love the mosaics on this church as well.
There is so much more to do in Venice, and these are merely three things you can do to make your trip there more enjoyable.
