Going Brazilian in Beijing: Alameda Restaurant

After you’ve had your fill of Peking Duck while in Beijing, you might want to try something else. A fabulous option is a Brazilian restaurant called Alameda, which is in Na-Li Mall, off Sanlitun Lu Street (also referred to as Bar Street due to its many drinking establishments). Once you’ve found Na-Li Mall, take some time to poke around the funky clothing and jewellery shops.

Alameda is a relaxed and open space with light coloured and comfortable furniture. There is usually a fixed price menu for 128 RMB ($16USD) which gives you a choice of entrée and main meal. Complementing the food is an extensive international wine list. On my last visit, I enjoyed a prawn and avocado terrine and a penne with eggplant, grilled capsicum and whole roasted garlic. A delicious dessert menu is available to round off your experience.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Alameda was recently named “Restaurant of the Year” by a expat magazine here called That’s Beijing. Read their review.
