“Don’t Take My Whiskey Away From Me” :: San Francisco

If Wynonie Harris took the words right out of your mouth when she sang:

Baby don’t take my whiskey ‘way from me.
Baby don’t take my whiskey ‘way from me.
You can help yourself to my last dollar,
If you touch my jug, you’re gonna hear me holler!
Don’t take my whiskey ‘way from me.

Then you won’t want to miss Malt Advocate magazine’s 2nd annual WhiskyFest San Francisco,America’s Largest Whisky Celebration, on October 10, 2008. The event will feature more than 200 of the world’s finest, rarest, and most expensive, single malt and blended Scotch, Irish, bourbon, Tennessee, Japanese, Welsh, Canadian and other whiskies from around the world to sample in one Grand Ballroom. Some of the producers to pour their spirits will include The Glenlivet, Highland Park, Jameson, Old Forester and Wild Turkey. There will also be high-end rums, tequilas and beer.

The focus is on education, ( yeah right…maybe for you!) and many distillery representatives will be on hand at the pouring booths to explain how the whiskies are made. Attendees will also enjoy an expansive gourmet buffet all evening and will receive a commemorative Glencairn whisky glass.

The event runs from 6:30 p.m.-10 p.m. Guests must be 21 years old or older to attend. San Francisco Marriott, 55 Fourth St., San Francisco, CA 94103, 415-896-1600.
