Gas Pains: Rising Prices Cause Upset Stomachs

My Toyota Camry gets about 22 mpg city/30 mpg highway. But when it cost me over $50 US to fill it up last weekend, it was a royal pain in the gas.

Some say the oil companies are gouging consumers. Some say they’re in collusion because of corporate greed amid record profits. Some say it’s the result of lowered supply and heightened demand caused by shortages after Hurricane Katrina last summer. And some say it’s just North American prices catching up with what Europeans have paid for decades.
