A Tale of Two Cities: Pebble Beach, CA & UK

It was the best of times. It was the worst of times. And if your city’s name is Pebble Beach, it was litiguous times.

A British businessman by the name of Michael Caddy (I kid you not) just opened a 3-BR B&B overlooking the south coast of England. Because it was in Barton-on-the-Sea, he named it “Pebble Beach.”

But there’s a town in Carmel, California along the Pacific Coast that’s home to the world-class Pebble Beach Golf Resort. Now the U.S. courts are fighting it out and the golf course has already lost the first suit against the UK town name using its name.
