First to open was downtown’s chic 60 Thompson a stylish 12-story boutique hotel in SoHo – Near Tribeca, Greenwich Village, Little Italy and Chinatown–peachy local.
6 Columbus, (right off Columbus Circle and Central Park) designed by the acclaimed Steven Sclaroff, is a throw back to the “mod- squad” 1960s days with a big dose of 21st century sensibility. Each one of the hotel’s 88 rooms has a flat-panel plasma-screen TV, preloaded i-Pod, and broadband Internet connections. One caveat- the rooms are on the smallish side at this new sleek hotel, filled with teak and chrome and the works of one of the world’s most respected fashion photographers, Guy Bourdin.
