Any Port in A Storm Watch :: Wickaninnish Inn, Vancouver Island

I love watching the Pacific Ocean storm waves roll towards the coast. It’s something I grew up with 12 blocks from San Francisco’s Ocean Beach — and just the thought of it brings back fond memories.

My wife just told me about the Wickaninnish Inn on a rocky peninsula on Chesterman Beach on Vancouver Island’s west side. As a proud member of Relais & Châteaux, it offers magnificent views of the open ocean, is surrounded by an old-growth forest, offers outstanding service, and wonderful amenities.

These include:
• Private fireplaces in spacious rooms
• An Ancient Cedars Spa
• Walks along Chesterman Beach
• Pacific Northwest cuisine
• And much more.

As a regular visitor to Tofino on Vancouver Island, I have to say I’ve yet to stay at the Wick! I have enjoyed the nearby Longbeach Lodge Resort. Make sure you go to the Tofino Botanical Gardens (great resto there called SoBo — short for Somewhat Bohemian). Storm watching is coming up so don’t let the winter weather keep you away — also, you can take surfing lessons and ride the big waves. I took photos instead :-).
