Ho Ho Ho-ing it in NYC over the holidays:: girlfriend getaway spa selections

oasis
Time for a Spa break:
After a day of power-shopping, museuming it or just wandering through the different nabes, a little R & R at either of these spas should prove a welcome break.

Oasis Day Spa

To find the hidden Oasis Day Spa at 1 Park Ave. you first descend down a flight of stairs to enter their calming environment where you can easily leave all your cares behind. Try and go a little early to unwind in their soothing, dimly-lit waiting area complete with soft music, great smells, comfy couches, with a selection of drinks and healthy snacks.
I only wish I had fallen asleep here since my therapist, Beverly, was way too chatty for my liking. Granted, it was mostly about skin and treatment tips, but puhleeze- I don’t want to hear about everything I’m doing wrong when I’m trying to unwind. But she did give a very good facial, complete with neck rub and nourishing hand-warmers.
Oasis has immaculate locker rooms and a great product line, with reasonable prices so you don’t get all knotted up when you get the final bill (which often happens to me, defeating the original purpose of my visit.) They have some excellent online specials and even have a text message list where you’ll be the first to hear about last-minute specials. Check their website for the other two locations.

Spaja

Brazilian-inspired Spaja is a slice of heaven located in Hell’s Kitchen. You’re cordially greeted and offered a cup of soothing fresh berry tea to go with a little nosh of dried fruit, nuts and cookie.
I had a lovely stone massage that had me so relaxed that I actually fell asleep. Word is that they give the best bikini waxes in town (after all, it IS a Brazilian spa) and for a big night out, try their lush eyelash extensions.
Tip: ask about the 20% off special for new clients
