Y’all Drink Up, Y’here?: Hill Country Wineries, Texas

Txpix2.jpg Speaking of wineries, the eyes of Texas are upon Napa Valley. With that typical “everything’s bigger and better here” braggadocious attitude, some Texan wineries believe they’re on track to become the next Napa Valley.

I’m not so sure about that. I’ve lived in the Bay Area all but four years of my life. During that period of temporary insanity, I lived in Dallas. I didn’t taste any Texan wine then, and may never sample it. But the 20 or so wineries in the Hill Country are pushing big time for more recognition as one of the fastest-growing wine producing areas in the US.

A special Wine & Wildflower Trail celebration is coming up April 21-23 and 28-30. Visitors can pick up a brochure or visit http://www.texaswinetrail.com/ for a map and directions to the wineries. [From CNN Travel.com.]
