Wine & Cheese = Wine Spectator Magazine Raves

If you’ve never been to a Melting Pot Restaurant across the US, you’re missing out on a spectacular opportunity for fun fondue along with extremely tasty food-and-cheese pairings with an extensive wine list. In fact, Melting Pot Restaurants Inc. just announced that 53 of its locations have received 2006 Wine Spectator awards for their outstanding wine lists.

“The Melting Pot locations take great care in preparing their selections of fine wines,” said Kendra Sartor, Melting Pot Restaurants VP of brand development. “This year, we’ve continued to place importance on our wine culture and the results are evident. In 2005, we won 37 awards, and this year 53 of our independently owned and operated restaurants were recognized by Wine Spectator for their outstanding wine selections.”

Wine Spectator judges its award winners on their ongoing commitment to a fine wine list, with a sufficient selection of better producers, along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style. Wine Spectator winners typically offer at least 80 selections.

“The Melting Pot’s wine lists certainly reflect the regions and personalities of our many different franchise partners,” continued Sartor. “When preparing their selections, our franchisees instill their own unique tastes and preferences — ensuring that each visit to The Melting Pot delivers a new and exciting wine experience.”

I do love to eat fondue in restaurants. So much easier than doing it at home. (My fondue set is rather dusty.) I’ll have to give The Melting Pot and its wine list a try.
