Watt’s Up With That? Point Cabrillo Light Station, Mendocino, CA

I’ve always wanted to spend the night in a lighthouse. On my next trip north about 200 miles from the SF Bay Area, maybe I’ll stay at the Point Cabrillo Light Station in Mendocino, built in 1909.

Its restored head keeper’s house is now called the Lighthouse Inn, which is one of only three lighthouses that offer inns along the California Coast. This B & B offers four bedrooms, with two more in separate garden cottages. All have private baths, early 1900s antiques, and room rates of $177 to $272 per night. This includes a lighthouse tour at night and a gourmet breakfast the next morning.
