Washington Ate Here: Smithsonian Folklife Festival

Food is life. So the Smithsonian Folklife Festival in D.C. from June 23-27 and June 30-July 4 is sure to be a big draw along the Mall. Especially when celebrity chefs like Mario Batali and Emeril Lagasse take center stage to showcase Food Culture USA and the role of food in American society over the past 30 years.

Visitors will learn first-hand about the artisan food trend that is revitalizing the production of cheese, bread, olives, and chocolate; about how global spices and herbs are cultivated, processed, and preserved; and about the challenges of finding new markets for traditional crops.
