Treehouse B&B in Vancouver, B.C.

Where to stay in Vancouver, BC? There are, of course, any number of great hotels in the city, including the Pan Pacific, the Fairmont, and the Four Seasons. But my favorite place for a romantic weekend is a few miles south of downtown in the beautiful residential neighborhood of Kerrisdale. The Treehouse B&B is on a tree-lined street near the campus of the University of British Columbia and a very short drive from the airport. It’s a great base from which to explore the UBC Museum of Anthropology, drive downtown to visit Stanley Park and Granville Island, and enjoy the great shopping on Robson Street.

The Treehouse B&B serves some of the most elegant, multi-course, gourmet breakfasts I have ever seen or tasted. And hosts Barb and Bob are a source of excellent tips about other sightseeing venues and places to dine. My personal favorites: Toshi’s for their creative presentations of sushi, and the tasting menu at Lumiere, a Relais & Chateaux property.

If you have your choice of rooms, choose the TreeTop Suite which has the entire third floor of the home to itself. Spread out in the large queen-bedded bedroom and sitting room … and luxuriate in the double jacuzzi in the stunning sky-lit bathroom with double vanity and separate shower. This is luxury at a fraction of the price!

Hi David: I’ve bumped into this place on the Internet … sounds nice! I’m a frequent visitor to Vancouver, which I write about often. I’ll add The Treehouse B&B to my “out of the city” list of hotels. Another nice one near UBC is A Harbourview Retreat … lovely Craftsman-style house and wonderful hosts. http://www.aharbourviewretreat.com). Best, Sue Frause
