Thin Is In :: Pizzeria Picco, Larkspur, CA

Last night, to celebrate our daughter’s graduation from middle school, we started with the Nash Farm Olives with rosemary, lemon and garlic, hot from the wood-brick oven. Hmmm. I never had warm olives before — what a refreshing change!
Next, we followed that with the Margherita Pizza (tomoato, basil, mozzarella, parmesan and De Padova EVOO) topped with a salad. Wow! The cool lettuce perfectly offset the bubbling hot melted cheese.

For dessert, we ALWAYS make room for the Strauss Dairy Soft Serve with Scharffen Berger chocolate. A Bay Area favorite artisan chocolatier. You can order this as a vanilla bean, a vanilla bean/chocolate swirl, or chocolate by itself. Then, you’ve got to decide if you want it topped with dark caramel sauce, seasonal fruit, dipped in an El Rey chocolate shell, with a side of El Rey hot fudge, or with Da Vero EVOO and sea salt. Of the latter, Michael Bauer said, “I took a little detour to Pizzeria Picco in Larkspur for soft-serve ice cream drizzled with olive oil and a sprinkling of sea salt. It’s an amazing blend that you have to try to believe.” I couldn’t agree more. Sometimes, we come here JUST for the dessert!
This restaurant seats about 10 inside on stools, or about 30 outside in sidewalk tables. Plus, they now have take-out of flash frozen pizzas.
