The Cream Puffs Daddy: Beard Papa Sweets Cafe, Westfield San Francisco Centre

Yesterday, I went shopping at the Westfield San Francisco Centre with my wife and daughter. The highlight of the day was a 54-year-old cream puff at Beard Papa, infused with chocolate cream. And it was delicious!!

We got to this popular new center that opened three weeks ago about 1pm. It was absolutely packed with the lunch time crowd. Fortunately, the Centre offers a choice of 26 bustling food court venues and restaurants. We ate fresh paninis at Bristol Farms. Then, we browsed the stores like Bloomingdale’s, Borders Books & Music and Eddie Bauer.

But we saved the best for last: dessert at Beard Papa Sweets Cafe. This is one of two local locations for this popular Japanese chain. Owned by Muginoho Co. Inc., it now has almost 300 outlets throughout Japan and Asia, while operating franchises in New York, New Jersey, Boston, Hawaii, LA and SF, with new stores planned across the US and Canada.

You can choose from Vanilla Bean, Chocolate, Green Tea, Caramel, Pumpkin, Strawberry and other cream puffs, plus eclairs, fondant, coffee, tea, water, and juice. We inhaled the chocolate for $1.75 but could have easily shared a box of six for $10 or 12 for $20.
