The Best Chocolate & Gelato in Barcelona: Vioko

Last summer, we had the pleasure of a walking tour in Barcelona led by our American friend, Phil Siegel. After a lengthy lunch of tapas and sangria, we were hot and we were hungry for something sweet.

He promptly took us to his favorite locale for both chocolate AND gelato: Vioko. This beautifully decorated store is near the end of Passeig de Joan de Borbo, just a few blocks from the beach and the Christopher Columbus landmark statue.

It features freshly made everything — cookies, chocolate bars, gelato and other desserts — in stunning displays with bi-lingual signage.

We each had a few scoops of gelato. All were rich, smooth and perfectly seasoned so they were not too sweet or tart. Warning: On a hot summer day, get it to to go in a cup or grab a bunch of napkins because it will melt so quickly.
