Shopping for Lunch: Four Seasons San Francisco

Casual elegance best describes my lunch at the new Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco. Situated two blocks from fashionista destination Union Square and around the corner from the Museum of Modern Art, its Seasons restaurant is a stylish dining room serving breakfast, lunch and dinner in the heart of my native city. The menu features fresh, northern California cuisine. Every bite was exquisite.

I could have chosen every item on the extensive menu, but started with the Spicy Hawaiian-Style Ahi Tuna Poke, which certainly lived up to its name. My colleagues Angela and Erin each enjoyed the Dungeness Crab Club Sandwich with Avocado, Panchetta and Tomato, while I licked the plate of my California Cobb Salad with Pesto-Marinated Chicken, Smoked Bacon Bits, Avocado, Tomato, Blue Cheese and Buttermilk Dressing. For dessert, we savored the Fresh Berry Cobbler with Vanilla Ice Cream.

The room is gorgeous with an open display kitchen, dramatic dark blue Norwegian granite floors, rich wood panelling, and floor-to-ceiling windows offering expansive views of Market Street and downtown.

The hotel also offers a full spa, pool, fitness facilities, and — if you enjoy it so much you want to live here — permanent residences.
