I’ve driven by Alegrias on Lombard Street in the Marina District for years on my way from Marin County to other San Francisco restaurants that were downtown, in Chinatown, North Beach and beyond. So I’m thrilled that I finally had a chance to sample their traditional Spanish cuisine featuring tapas, paella, Spanish wines and sherries.
In a word, it was “delicioso.” In a few hundred other words, I was amazed that my friend Chris, who’s basically a steak and potatoes guy, loved the subtle flavors and nuanced textures of each dish that his wife Val, my wife Ellen, and I shared over our two-hour feast.
