If you can’t buy them, beat them. That’s the philosophy Bill Gates is taking today as he launches the new Microsoft Zune Media Player to compete directly against Apple’s market-leading iPod.
The Zune is different because it’s WiFi-based, so it lets you share songs and digital photos without wires between two or more Zunes. It’s got a larger on-screen display. And it’s got an FM radio tuner. At $249, the Zune is available in black, white or brown and costs the same as the $250 30GB iPod.
