Grab a Cold One: Absolut Icebar, London
A hot night on the town isn’t what it used to be. Because the new Absolut Icebar in London is taking cool down a few degrees to freezing cold. At the bar at 29-33 Heddon Street near Piccadilly Circus, the entire interior is made of ice — and the crystal clear water comes from Lapland’s Torne River in Sweden. The venue opened October 1, with visitors offered silver capes, gloves and warm shoes to keep them tepid in the mid-20s temperatures.
Don’t worry about freezing your keister off — you can park your fanny on a reindeer skin covered ice stool before you drink from ice glasses. Cost of admission is 12 pounds (about $22 US), which covers the first drink, too. Of course, you can choose from a wide variety of Absolut vodka cocktails. Refills are 6 pounds; non=booze drinks are half that much. You can also thaw out next door at the Scandinavian fusion restaurant.
To book a seat or 60 in this 1,000-square-foot-bar for up to 45 minutes, visit their AbsolutIcebar.com Website, call +44 (0)20 7287 9192, or email: [email protected]
